A CLEAR, CONSENT-BASED PROCESS

How the connection works

You remain in control throughout. HealthReact only accesses data after you receive study-specific information and choose to grant permission.

01

Join an eligible study

A study team enrols you, explains the research and provides your HealthReact invitation or QR code.

02

Review study details

Before connection, you see the exact data requested, the research purpose, responsible institution and authorised recipients.

03

Choose what to allow

Google shows the requested permissions. You can grant or decline access on Google’s official authorisation screen.

04

Securely share data

Only the data needed for your study are synchronised and routed to that study’s protected HealthReact environment.

DATA USED FOR YOUR STUDY

Only what the research needs

Different studies require different information. The exact categories and data types are shown before you connect.

Activity & fitness

For example steps, distance, exercise sessions, energy expenditure or active time.

Sleep

For example sleep records, duration and sleep stages where available.

Health metrics

For example heart rate, resting heart rate, HRV or other measurements required by the study.

Minimum access by design. HealthReact does not automatically request or retrieve every available data type. Each study is configured to use only what is necessary for its stated purpose.

YOUR DATA, YOUR DECISION

Transparent by study.
Controlled by you.

Each study has its own responsible institution, purpose, authorised team, data categories, retention period and contact details. You receive this information before granting Google access.

You can always

  • Decline Google access without sharing data
  • Review the categories requested by your study
  • Revoke Google access and stop future synchronisation
  • Contact the responsible study team
  • Request deletion where the study rules permit it

Revoking Google access stops future synchronisation. It may not automatically erase research data already collected; handling of existing data follows your study documentation and applicable law.

MANAGING YOUR DATA

Disconnect or request deletion.

  1. Stop future synchronisation

Revoke HealthReact’s access at any time in your Google Account connections ↗. This stops HealthReact from retrieving new Google Health data.

  2. Request deletion of transferred data

Contact the research team named in your study documentation. If you cannot reach the study team, email info [at] healthreact.eu.

  3. Check the rules for your study

Revoking Google access does not itself delete data already collected. The availability and consequences of deletion are explained in your study documentation and are subject to applicable law.

Secure by design

Encrypted transfer and storage, pseudonymous participant identifiers and controlled access.

Studies stay separated

Data are routed only to the protected environment of the study you joined.

No unrelated use

No sale, advertising, marketing, credit, insurance or unrelated profiling.

Not emergency care

HealthReact is a research platform, not an emergency service or a substitute for medical diagnosis.

Google Health API Limited Use

The use of information received from the Google Health API will adhere to the Google Health API Developer and User Data Policy ↗ and the Google Health API User Data and Health Research Policy ↗, including the Limited Use requirements.
